  • Number of Tourists Increased 7.5 Times in Four Years – Yekaterina Smolyakova

    In 2020, about 2 million tourists visited Kazakhstan, while last year the number exceeded 15 million. The industry’s revenue surpassed 1.2 trillion tenge. This was stated by Mazhilis member Yekaterina Smolyakova in her parliamentary inquiry addressed to Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, infotabigat.kz reports.

    According to the deputy, The New York Times, Lonely Planet, and CNN Travel have included Kazakhstan in their lists of recommended destinations for 2025. Moreover, according to the World Economic Forum’s Travel and Tourism Development Index, Kazakhstan ranks 52nd among 119 countries.

    “These figures are not just statistics. They show that Kazakhstan is becoming a new and attractive destination for travelers from around the world. Today, tourism is a driving force of regional economies – a foundation for new jobs, small business growth, and infrastructure development,” said Yekaterina Smolyakova.

    She also emphasized that the state’s main task is to sustain this growth by developing environmentally sustainable tourism and modern infrastructure to fully unlock the potential of each region.
