  • “Clean City, Clean Environment” Eco-Action Held in Settlement of Semey

Youth and community members join cleanup campaign under “Taza Kazakhstan” program, infotabigat.kz reports.

An environmental campaign titled “Clean City, Clean Environment” was held in the Vodny settlement of Semey city as part of Kazakhstan’s nationwide “Taza Kazakhstan” program. The initiative aims to improve sanitation conditions and promote environmental awareness among the population.

The event brought together staff from the regional Center for Public Accord (House of Friendship), members of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan youth wing, and around 50 active local residents. Participants cleaned public areas, removed litter, and improved the condition of communal spaces in the settlement.

A notable feature of the campaign was that the cleanup location was selected based on monitoring of social media activity. Organizers emphasized that this highlights the importance of civic engagement and residents’ active role in addressing environmental and cleanliness issues in their communities.

Participants noted that caring for the environment is a shared responsibility of every citizen, and that fostering environmental culture plays an important role in educating young people by promoting responsibility, discipline, and respect for nature.

Methodologist of the regional Center for Public Accord (House of Friendship), Yersinbek Orleubek, emphasized that cleanliness should be viewed as a way of life rather than a one-time effort.

“Cleanliness is not just about occasional cleanups, but a lifestyle for everyone. By maintaining our surroundings, we show respect for our homeland. It is especially encouraging to see young people actively involved in such initiatives,” he said.

At the end of the event, organizers urged residents to continue treating the environment with care and to support similar initiatives in the future.

Overall, since April 4, environmental activities under the “Taza Kazakhstan” program in the region have engaged 182,847 participants, including representatives of 2,369 organizations and institutions. A total of 958 units of equipment were used in the cleanup efforts.

As a result, 14,387 courtyards were cleaned, 275 parks and public gardens were restored, 9,547 tons of solid waste were removed, and 20,750 trees were planted.
