Following agreements reached during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Kazakhstan, 2025 has officially been declared the Year of China Tourism in Kazakhstan. The initiative aims to strengthen cultural ties, promote Chinese tourism among Kazakh citizens, and inspire cross-border travel and exchange.
One of the first events under this initiative was a roundtable hosted by the Association of Alumni of Chinese Universities in Kazakhstan.
The discussion brought together representatives from Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, Astana Tourism Development Center, the Chinese Cultural Center, the National Museum of Kazakhstan, the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken,” and the Kazakhstan Tourism Association.
In a warm and open atmosphere, participants explored opportunities for enhancing tourism cooperation — from launching direct flights and developing themed travel packages, to fostering cultural exchange and exploring new models of partnership in the tourism sector.
The initiative marks a meaningful step forward in deepening China-Kazakhstan relations and opens exciting new possibilities for travelers and tourism industries in both countries.
